So grades are in.... I got 3 A's and a B+ blowing what could have been my 3rd semester of stright A's... and President's Honor Roll... but at least I still made the Dean's List and my GPA improved to a 3.61. I've been trying unsuccessfully to think about school and work, but people keep e-mailing me like I'm not allowed a week or two off... come on.. this is MY LAST EVER SUMMER VACATION... this time next year I'll be full time employed in the real world.. EWWW.. I'm so not ready to by old yet.

Can anyone guess who these kids are?

So today was a lot fun... in addition to studying for my two finals on Monday, I had lunch with my parents.. watched 3 episodes of Amazing Race with Melanie, Dinner with Brandon, Lisa, and Kristen and then miniture golf with the same people. It was a great day and productive at the same time.

So I'm sitting in the library desperately needing a brain break.

I'm writing a 5-7 page paper due on the Educational Influences of Domestic Violence in China and I feel like I'm having to pull the whole thing out of my butt. So much China information NONE of it that has ANYTHING to do with my paper!

GRR! Anyway... the University has myspace rerouted to our UNF homepage and so there isn't much to procrastinate with... but I'm trying desperately. Anyway, my group is getting here for my group project in an hour and a half so I need to get back to work.. I just don't feel like it.

okay fine... I'll write my paper now... boo!

So my grandfather is sick, very sick. He's having serious heart problems and is trying to get all his "affairs in order" which includes selling my great-grandfather's farm with all our family hierlooms in it. Needless to say, my family was told "come visit" ASAP and so we all (mom, dad, Julie, Tyson, and me) rearranged our schedules to get this upcoming weekend off and go to be with him. Yesterday we get a phone call saying Dot (my step-grandmother) needs to see an eye doctor in Little Rock, Arkansas the morning of the day we are coming. They could fly there, since they are both old and shouldn't be driving 500 miles anyway and then still be home before we are supposed to get there. But no, they want to drive and be gone Thursday-Saturday. They are soooo sorry because Dot doesn't want us to think that her health gets in the way every time our family plans something (she schedule knee replacement surgery for the week of my high school graduation) but it sure looks oftly convienant to me!

Every time our family has some important family event something happens to her! Supposedly this appointment has been in the making for awhile, THEN WHY WEREN'T WE TOLD WHEN WE REARRANGED OUR LIVES TO COME!?!?! Tyson can't take off a different 4 days to come, this was going to be it. This is spring break. This is when we have to go. My grandfather turns 87 this month... there aren't going to be that many more opportunties to spend time with him. Why can't her son take her to the doctor and we visit with him?! Why does she always take my grandfather away when I want to see him!?!

Am I being selfish? or is she? Just cause Tyson and I got married instead of just getting pregnant like her granddaughter. Just cause I have "good, wholesome friends" (that's how you people that were in my wedding were described by my grandfather) and her granddaughter doesn't.. does it really mean she has to get sick every time we want to see him so that it's NEVER a good time for us to visit? What the heck!? I was told not to be resentful... but I can't help how I feel. I want a weekend with my grandfather even if I have to drive to Little Rock!

/endrant

In other news, today makes my parents 29th wedding anniversery. I'm so proud of them for staying together for so long. Next year makes 3 decades!

Crazy as always [Feb. 15th, 2006|11:57 pm]
Well as always things are a little crazy... tomorrow I'm going to Tennessee for winterfest until Sunday. I'm looking forward to getting away from the crazyness of here... I really need to learn how to say no.. but I always feel like I'm letting people down...

I have the opportunity to go to Nigaraqua on a mission trip this summer, but I would get back the same day as FBC (Florida Bible Camp) which I've already committed to going to and the trip will cost $1600

I have the opportunity to go do a VBS (Vacation Bible School) in Virginia.. but they don't even have dates or cost for that yet and my summer is already looking a little crowded

I have the opportunity to go to SEPA (Southeastern Psychological Association) conference the first weekend of spring break... but it would cost $200 and unless I want to spend an additional $225 I would have to share a hotel room with a guy friend of mine.

I have the opportunity to go to CDRC (Child Development Research Conference) with a professor in Boston, but again, no dates or cost yet... but a huge push from a prof to go with her.

On top of this all... I need to do 15 modules this summer so I can get my ITDS (Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist) certificate through UCF or FSU, start my ITDS internship, anaylze post-test data, study/take the GRE, and begin my fall classses (Dr. Marcon wants me to begin my Applied Developmental readings and homework as soon as spring starts so that the modules will make sense to me since they are meant for graduate studens who are getting thier specialist certificate)

When talking to Tyson about it all... he said.. don't you ever want an opportunity to NOT be stressed out? I said I would love it.. but where would it fit?

In other news, Tyson is looking at becoming an air traffic controller. We originally thought that he would have to go to Oklahoma for 18 weeks, but would be paid well while he was there. (this would have paid for Nicaraqua) but now he has learned some new information.
1. He can't even apply until April
2. Then he has to take and pass a test
3. Then he can go to OK for 4 weeks, but it is rumered that it will be at our expense (so much for extra money this summer) (for that matter so much for my extra money because with all the stuff listed above I won't have time to work at the doctor's office even part time)

In final news, I've had my first set of test in all my classes... the results...
Psychological Testing- 88
Behavior Modification- 98
Abnormal Psychology- 94
Family Violence- 92

so not a bad start to the semester I just hope that I can maintain it...

anyway sorry for the jumbled rambled update, but I realized I hadn't updated in awhile and I had a lot on my mind and well this is the result!

I'm doing the best I can!! :)

Love you guys!
Linda

Well.. I'm getting close [Feb. 7th, 2006|11:17 am]
[mood | content]

Someone told me the other day that to graduate with honors at graduation you must have the honor and 48 hours at UNF by the semester before you plan to graduate. As I thought about that I realized that means I only have one semester left to get the grades that I want to get, so I decided to do the math.

Here's the result:
As of today (not including this semester) if my grades stay as is I can graduate cum laude (with honors), if I make all A's this semester then I can graduate magna cum laude (with high honors) but unfortunately even if I make all A's the following semester I can not graduate summa cum laude. The highest GPA I can get is a 3.71 just shy of the required 3.8, only a few things different and I could've graduated with highest honors, but that's not in the cards.

It kinda disappoints me that I'm at the point where there is a limit, where it is mathmatically impossible for me to do something. I like having the world open to me. At the same time, I'm thrilled that I've done as well as I have. At this point in high school my mother was telling me the only way to get a 3.0 and get bright futures was to make stright A's... unfortunately back then I'd never done that and I graduated with a 2.9 as far as bright futures was concerned, (OP said it was a 3.1), so in that respect I'm happy with a 3.7 and graduating with high honors. It is certainly better then I've ever done before and for that I'm excited. I just wish it were a little bit better. Sue me.

Did anyone else get this? [Feb. 6th, 2006|11:12 pm]
I got a certificate signed by John Delaney for having a "perfect 4.0 in the fall 2005 semester" which is cool and all, but how come I haven't gotten it before with stright A's? Anyone else get one? Have you gotten one before? Is this new? Does it mean anything?

Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone,

thought it was time for a quick update... I finished the alphabet reports for my research yesterday and now I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I slept for 11 hours last night... and still had to "wake myself up" for the meeting I have at 12.

Now this weekend I'm going to go shopping, hang out with Ashley, clean my house, do laundry, and catch up on the homework that I've been putting on the back burner to do the research. I can't believe it's already test time again. 3 test in a week's time period... why must they all schedule at the same time?!?!

Anyway, that's about it... except.. while I'm updating...

I'd like to welcome Ryden William Freeman into the world. He was born this morning and can add to the baby boom at Argyle. Maybe Rachel will bring him to the nursery when I have nursery duty on the 12th. Either way, I'll see him tomorrow... cause visiting her will also be on my to-do list....

Another weekend where I have more to do then time availible... does that surprise anyone?

New Years Update [Jan. 1st, 2006|03:13 pm]
Think About It:

10 years ago: Where were you and where did you think you would be in 2006

I had just turned 11, I thought I would be a junior at the University of Florida, I thought I would be a gator cheerleader, I would be majoring in education to be a 3rd grade teacher, and I dreamed of finding my husband there.

5 years ago: Where were you and where did you think you would be in 2006

I had just turned 16 and couldn't wait to start driving, thought I was at the top of the world, I had realized that I wouldn't get into UF and planned on going to Harding and being in band there. I wanted to marry a good Christian guy who would be a youth minister so that I could be a youth minister's wife and a teacher.

Where are you starting 2006:

I'm a senior at UNF, married almost 2 years, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Social Welfare, lab director for a federal research grant, making A's, an officer in an honor society, President of Psychology club, friends with professors and other psych majors, still in touch and enjoy spending time with my high school friends, over the band thing. 21 and enjoying life but wanting to be less stressed out.

5 years from now: Where do you expect to be in 2011?

Wow, I will have just turned 26, I will hopefully have a bachelor's and a master's degree in something that I enjoy, will have started working in the field, have bought my own house, learned to cook and decorate, and be expecting baby #1

10 years from now: Where do you expect to be in 2016?
31 which is crazy! I will hopefully be a proud mother of 2 and be fixed not to have anymore. I'd like to be working part time to help people and watch my babies grow. I hope that my cats will still be alive and well, but Allie will be 12 at this point :( I'll probably be an aunt and our family will have significantly grown as a result. I want to have big family Christmas' at my house where my parents are really impressed with my "homemaking." Most of all I want to be raising my kids well developmentally and spirtually.

Who knows what the future truly holds... live life to the fullest... and may God bless you in 2006!

well Christmas is over, minus the part of putting away the many things we were blessed with. I'd name them like everyone else, but we had 3 sets of parents who still consider us thier babies and so we ended up with a ton of stuff, most of which, we didn't ask for.

The highlights were tivo, an radio for inside my house for my ipod to play on, gift certificates, clothes, and longaburger. We also got 2 cactus', don't ask what we plan on doing with them.

For all you wonderful people who text messaged me on Christmas, I'm so sorry I wasn't a better friend in responding, but again, with 3 sets of parents, Christmas is a very busy day. We were up at 6am and didn't do "our Christmas" (as in Tyson, me, and our cats) until after midnight. But it was fun and wonderful.

Church people: Are we having a devo tonight... someone tell me if I need to clean my house. Thanks.
(PS- We need to hang out)
